Leslie Butterfiled, PhD

Leslie Butterfiled

Leslie is a clinical psychologist specializing in pregnancy and postpartum issues. At her Seattle, WA private practice she works with moms and couples struggling with pregnancy loss, the transition to parenthood, pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders, and birth related trauma. Additionally, she has designed and taught the counseling skills curriculum for Seattle Midwifery School and Bastyr Naturopathic University's Department of Midwifery for the past 15 years.

In her capacity as an educator, Leslie has provided trainings and consultations to: University of Washington; Singapore KKH Hospital for Women; AWHONN(Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses); PALS (Pacific Association of Labor Support); API (Attachment Parenting International), NAPS (Northwest Association for Postpartum Support), Catholic Charities, Planned Parenthood, and others. Recently she has represented PATTCh (Prevention and Treatment of Traumatic Childbirth) as Vice President, and PSI (Postpartum Support International) WA State Chair, at national and international conferences

Leslie is currently adjusting to the fact that her sweet baby boys are now maturing teenagers and driving!! She loves to belly dance, cook with her sons, do scrapbooking, and travel round the world - having recently completed visits to SE Asia and Paris! She also travels regularly to Virginia to visit her parents and try to convince them to move to Seattle.

Mia Edidin, LICSW

Mia Edidin

Mia is Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Seattle, WA and has worked with families for over 13 years. Mia works primarily with women and young children, specializing in pregnancy and postpartum emotional adjustment, attachment and relationship difficulties, and young children with behavior disorders. Before getting her MSW in 2006, Mia worked as a doula and apprenticed with a midwife, where she learned about many aspects of maternal and child health. Mia's professional and personal experiences have led to a fascination and deep commitment to exploring our experiences as mothers- both working individually with mothers processing their unique stories, and sharing the experiences that bind all mothers together. Mia works at a local community mental health agency with low income families and has a private practice in Seattle. Mia has been on the board of directors for 6 years, and currently serves as Vice Chair and Program Director. She lives in Seattle, WA with her techie partner and 13 year old daughter.

Melinda Ferguson

Melinda Ferguson

Melinda has been supporting women and their partners around birth and postpartum since 2004. She has spent a lifetime in service to others. Through her own experiences, both personal and professional she has come to particularly enjoy working with families struggling with challenges in birth and postpartum. Melinda is a DONA Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula. She holds certification with PALS, Open Arms Perinatal Services and NAPS as well. She is a DONA Approved Postpartum Doula Trainer. Melinda has served on the Board of Postpartum Support International of Washington for the past six years. She has attended numerous advanced trainings including Postpartum Mood Disorders, Breastfeeding and Lactation, VBAC, Working with Anxious Parents, and Child Birth Educator Training, among others. Heidi Koss, MA, LMHC

Heidi Koss

Heidi Koss, MA, LMHC is a psychotherapist in Kirkland, WA specializing in pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders (PPMD), birth trauma, sexual abuse and parent adjustment issues. She also hosts a weekly birth trauma support group. She is the WA State Coordinator for Postpartum Support International, and on the Board of Directors of Postpartum Support International of Washington (PSI of WA), and PATTCh - the Prevention and Treatment of Traumatic Childbirth, as well as co-founder of the Northwest Association for Postpartum Support (NAPS). She offers consultant services and PPMD trainings. Heidi has also been a Postpartum Doula and Certified Lactation Educator. Heidi is also the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters.

Kristine M. Schaefer, LICSW

Kristine Schaefer

Kristine has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota. She has worked within the field of pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology for ten years, with experience in several diverse populations, including pediatric hospice, adolescent mothers, substance use, and early childhood mental health. Additionally, Kristine is an advocate for the perinatal population and has been highly involved with coordinating community resources and providing individual therapy. She is currently working at Seattle Children's Hospital. Kristine recently relocated to Washington and enjoys discovering all the Northwest has to offer. Kristine can be reached via email at
